Monarch is an ad-free personal finance app that puts bank, card, loan, and investment accounts on one dashboard so people can track spending, net worth, cash flow, and goals.^1 Val Agostino, Jon Sutherland, and Ozzie Osman built it so a spouse, partner, or advisor can join the same picture without an extra seat.^2 Households can label money as yours, mine, or ours, switch between personal and shared views, and work a budget together even when funds stay in separate accounts.^3
The product is subscription-based: members pay for the service, ads stay out, and Monarch says it does not sell financial data.^5 Bank connections are read-only, with encryption and multi-factor authentication, and independent auditors have issued SOC 2 Type 2 certification for its security controls.^6 It runs on the web, iPhone, iPad, and Android in the United States and Canada.^8
A Plus plan adds longer-range forecasting and tools for more complex situations such as business tracking.^9 An in-app AI Assistant, trained with guidance from Monarch's panel of financial practitioners, can answer questions against a member's full picture. Live testing of that assistant was out of scope for this review.^10
