Privacy policy

faith.tools is a directory of Christian apps operated by Cameron Pak through FAITH TOOLS SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS, LLC.

This policy explains what information I collect, why I use it, and how you can contact me about it. You do not need an account to browse the public directory.

Information you provide

If you contact me, recommend an app, share a story, or ask about sponsorship, I receive the information you provide. This can include:

• Your name and email address.
• App information, links, and answers about the app.
• Messages, feedback, and stories.
• Optional test credentials that you provide so I can try an app.
• Sponsorship and transaction information.

App recommendations and stories can contain information about religious beliefs. Share only information that is relevant to your message. Do not include another person’s private information without their permission.

If you provide test credentials, use a dedicated test account. Do not send passwords for your personal accounts.

Information collected during visits

The website and its service providers process technical information to deliver pages, protect the site, measure usage, and diagnose errors. This can include:

• Your IP address, browser, and device information.
• Pages visited, referring pages, and access times.
• Clicks and other interactions.
• Search queries used to find apps and posts.
• Browser and server errors.

I use PostHog for analytics and error reporting. The site configures PostHog in cookieless mode, which does not store PostHog data in browser cookies or local storage. PostHog counts visitors through a hash generated on its servers.

Cookieless analytics still processes information about your visit. It does not mean that the website collects no data.

Your browser also stores preferences, such as whether you dismissed the newsletter section. Security services and administrative sign-in can use cookies.

How I use information

I use information to:

• Operate, secure, and improve faith.tools.
• Find, review, and describe apps.
• Respond to messages and questions.
• Prepare stories for publication with permission.
• Manage sponsorships and measure sponsored placements.
• Deliver the newsletter to people who subscribe.
• Maintain records needed for legal and business purposes.

Sending an app recommendation does not subscribe you to the newsletter.

AI-assisted app review

For some app pre-reviews, I use AI tools such as ChatGPT and Muse.

I send these tools public app information, my review notes, and app-related answers from the Tally recommendation form. Depending on what you write, those answers can contain personal information.

The AI providers process these inputs under their own terms, privacy policies, and account settings. This policy does not promise that those providers never retain inputs or use them to improve their services.

Stories and public app information

Sending a story does not make every part of your response public. I obtain clear permission before publishing your story and name.

App information that you provide can inform a public app description or review. Contact details and test credentials are not part of the public app description.

Services involved

The services used for different parts of faith.tools include:

• Cloudflare: Website hosting, database and media storage, content delivery, security, and administrative access.
• PostHog: Analytics, sponsored-placement events, and error reporting.
• Val Town: A proxy that forwards browser analytics requests to PostHog.
• Tally: Forms for app recommendations, stories, contact, and other inquiries.
• Google, through Gmail: Email correspondence and form-response notifications.
• Substack: Newsletter subscriptions, delivery, and the embedded subscription form.
• Dub: Short links on go.faith.tools.
• Stripe: Sponsorship payments.
• ChatGPT and Muse: AI-assisted app pre-review.

These services receive information relevant to their functions. Their privacy policies also describe how they process information.

Baserow, Senja, and Netlify are no longer current service providers for faith.tools. Stopping their use does not establish that all historical records, exports, or backups were deleted.

Embedded content and outside websites

Some pages load outside content, including the Substack subscription form, YouTube videos, and externally hosted images or badges.

When your browser loads that content, the provider can receive technical information about your visit and may use cookies or similar technology.

App links, affiliate links, sponsored links, and short links can take you to other websites. Those websites have their own privacy policies.

Sponsorships and sharing

I manage sponsored placements directly. I use PostHog to measure when placements appear and when visitors click them.

I do not sell your personal information.

Information can be disclosed when required by law or when necessary to protect the website, people, or legal rights.

Storage, security, and retention

Administrative access uses authentication and permissions. Private review information and Recommender contact history are separate from public app content.

No method of storage or transmission guarantees complete security.

I retain information while needed for the purposes described in this policy, including correspondence, app review, published content, security, and legal records. Retention can differ by service and type of information.

Removing public sign-in did not automatically delete historical account data. If you have questions about an old account or other records, contact me.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can browse without an account, choose what information to send, and unsubscribe through the newsletter’s unsubscribe link.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information. You may also have rights to object to processing or withdraw consent.

To make a request, email cam@faith.tools. I may need information to verify your identity and locate the relevant records.

Legal obligations can limit deletion. Withdrawing publication permission cannot guarantee removal of copies that other people or services already made.

The site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

Children’s privacy

faith.tools is not directed to children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information, contact me so I can investigate and take appropriate steps to remove it.

International processing

Service providers can process information in the United States and other countries. Privacy laws in those countries can differ from the laws where you live.

Policy changes

I publish revisions on this page and update the date above. If applicable law requires additional notice, I provide that notice.
