Reading the Bible can feel overwhelming — strange laws, confusing genealogies, and stories that seem disconnected from anything relevant. Spoken Gospel exists to walk beside you through every book and chapter, showing how all of Scripture points to Jesus and the good news of the Gospel.^1
Founded in 2018 by Eric Smith (CEO) and David Bowden (Chief Product Officer), Spoken Gospel is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Edmond, Oklahoma.^2 David, a spoken word poet and author of When God Isn't There, Rewire Your Heart, and Learning to Be Loved, brings a creative storytelling approach to Scripture. Alongside podcast co-host Seth Stewart — a pastor and writer — they've built a library of resources that has helped people encounter Jesus in the Bible nearly 50 million times.^2 The organization affirms the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds and intentionally avoids denominational alignment, creating materials "so all people can taste and see the good news of Jesus."^3
In November 2025, Spoken Gospel completed a seven-year project: a free video library covering every book of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. The collection includes over 800 dynamic videos and more than 500,000 words of devotional content, and has received over 150 million views worldwide.^4 Their podcast has drawn over 130,000 downloads in 2025 alone.^4 The ministry is now preparing to use AI translation tools to bring this entire library into additional languages for global access.^4
The app (available on iOS and Android) gives you access to three core resources — all 100% free, with no subscriptions, ads, or paywalls.^5 Bible Explained Films are beautifully produced 10-minute introductions to each book of the Bible, featuring dramatic storytelling and spoken word poetry. Devotionals are chapter-by-chapter written guides showing how Jesus fulfills every part of Scripture. And the Spoken Gospel Podcast offers thoughtful conversations about the Bible with David and Seth. Content is also available in Spanish.^1
