The app gathers animated videos, podcast conversations, classes, annotated guides, and Scripture reading tools, offered free by a crowdfunded nonprofit.^2 It is built to grow real reading skill — literary genres, themes from Genesis to Revelation, and ancient context — and it tracks progress so you can pick up where you left off.^1
Tim Mackie (Lead Research Scholar, Ph.D. in Semitic Languages and Biblical Studies) and Jon Collins (Chief Creative Officer) founded BibleProject in 2014 after rooming at Multnomah University. They started with a whiteboard, two videos, and the conviction that complex biblical themes could become approachable through art and conversation.^3 The Portland nonprofit now offers content in over 50 languages and is led by CEO Steve Atkinson with artists, scholars, and developers.^3 Their aim is not to defend one denominational tradition, but to elevate the Bible’s literary art and unified message so more people become lifelong students of Scripture.^3
