Limit is an Android blocker for people who have outgrown ordinary screen-time timers. Richard Gill built it after years of fighting his own phone habits. He wanted protection that could not be switched off on impulse, yet still let a friend send a useful link.^1
Limit uses Android Device Owner, the same mobile device management path companies use on employee phones. Once installed it cannot be uninstalled or disabled unless you wait out a delay or enter a PIN.^3 Setup is a one-time USB session from a computer, because those permissions cannot be granted from the phone alone.^3
The Limit app blocks other apps and every other browser. Limit Browser is based on Firefox: it blocks sites, can force Google SafeSearch, and can allow a single YouTube video without opening the feed.^3 Curated lists cover social feeds, pornography, and gambling, while calls, messaging, and the apps you keep stay available.^6
Individuals set a delay before a blocked app opens. Families lock settings behind a PIN so a parent can protect a child without monitoring.^7 Limit is still in Beta on Android 10 and newer, including tablets, and is subscription-based after a free trial.^8
