Looking for a Bible reader that puts Scripture front and center — no devotionals, no social feeds, no distractions? Bolls Bible is a cross-platform Bible reading app built on one conviction: Sola Scriptura — full emphasis on God's Word only.^1
With 146 translations in 31 languages, Bolls Bible gives you access to a wide range of Scripture texts — from the KJV and ESV to Ukrainian, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and many more. Features include bookmarks, reading history, cross-device sync, parallel reading for comparing translations side by side, full-text and vector/semantic search for finding verses by meaning rather than just keywords, dictionary lookup with Strong's numbers, offline downloading of translations and dictionaries, and deeply customizable themes including a color theme generator so you can make it truly yours.^2^8
Created by Bohuslav Pavlyshinets, a Ukrainian developer who was frustrated with cluttered Bible apps and corrupted texts, Bolls Bible started as a passion project in 2020. "I was using different Bible readers before but I dislike their design, interface, and sometimes there was even corrupted texts," he shared on Reddit. "So I decided to create my own app."^3 The entire project is open source under the GPL-3.0 license, with 614 commits and active development as of October 2026.^4
One translation note: the NIV is no longer available in Bolls Bible. The developer states that Biblica, Inc. prohibited him from using the NIV. Where the NIV text would appear, the site and the API now serve his statement criticizing Biblica and urging readers to choose freely available translations such as YLT, WEB, ASV, KJV, and NET instead (see the Editors Notes on this listing).
