Ever feel like porn is always just one click away? Plucky Filter is a self-control internet filter that flips the script — instead of someone else policing your screen, you set your own boundaries, and Plucky enforces them with a time delay you choose in advance.^1
In its default mode, Plucky blocks all images and videos across the web, then lets you whitelist sites you trust. The key innovation is the delay: when you allow a new site or try to uninstall, there's a waiting period (anywhere from minutes to hours) that you set during a clear-headed moment. That gap between impulse and action is where self-control lives.^2 Plucky also offers fine-grain filtering — block Google Images without blocking Google Search, or allow specific subreddits without opening all of Reddit — plus scheduled internet blackouts, variable delays by time of day, and an accountability URL a trusted friend can monitor.^3
Created by Jon Wilkes in 2007, Plucky (originally called Pluckeye) was born from Jon's own need for a filter strong enough to resist a software developer's bypass instincts. He and his wife Kristin have been building Plucky full-time for over a decade, driven by a conviction that Christians should care about helping people protect their families — even across borders.^4 Jon is also a founding member of Builders (xbuilders.org), an alliance of Christian technical companies who collaborate rather than compete in the fight against pornography.^5 The name draws from the "pluck-eye principle" in Matthew 5:27-30, and the "Why It Works" page openly grounds the tool's philosophy in Scripture, citing Romans 7-8 on the war between flesh and Spirit.^6
Plucky runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. Pricing is a sliding scale based on income, with a free 30-day trial and completely free access in developing countries. About a third of Plucky's users are in the developing world, spanning over 100 countries.^1
