Building a Bible app or website but drowning in the complexity of organizing Scripture content across languages and formats? Bible Brain, the developer API from Faith Comes By Hearing, gives you straightforward REST endpoints for Bible text, audio, and video — so you can focus on your app instead of wrangling content.^1
Bible Brain (also known as the Digital Bible Platform v4) serves Bible content in 2,633 languages, including dramatized audio recordings, plain and formatted text, Gospel Films, and adaptive bitrate audio streaming.^2 The API is well-documented with Postman collections, core concept guides, and example user flows to help developers get started quickly.^3 Powered apps include Bible.is, Subsplash's Church App, the Gideon Bible App, United Bible Societies, SIL's Scripture App Builder, and Kolo Africa — together reaching millions of listeners worldwide.^1
The story behind Bible Brain is one of quiet faithfulness. Faith Comes By Hearing was founded in 1972 by Jerry and Anet Jackson as a small cassette tape lending library called Hosanna. As a child, Anet saw a vision of a Bible and heard a voice say, "Test everything by this Book" — words that became foundational to her life's calling.^4 She went on to envision and produce the first dramatized New Testament ever recorded, traveling the globe to facilitate recordings in dozens of languages.^4 That small library grew into a global 501(c)(3) nonprofit — top-ranked on Charity Navigator for 17 consecutive years with a Platinum Seal of Transparency on GuideStar — that has produced audio Bibles spanning over 170 countries and more than 2,500 languages.^5 Co-founder Anet Jackson passed away on December 20, 2025 at age 90, surrounded by her husband of 70 years and their family, leaving a legacy of millions who heard Scripture in their own language for the first time.^4
The API is free for non-commercial use, and the FCBH GitHub organization remains actively maintained with commits as recent as May 2026 across 21 repositories.^7
