Change The Map invites Christians to pray with knowledge and purpose for the Buddhist world.^1 It began in 2013 among cross-cultural workers in Southeast Asia, stirred by a map of the nations with the highest share of Buddhists, who believed the love of Jesus would change that map through concerted prayer.^2
Founder and director Mark Durene, an Assemblies of God missionary serving in Thailand with his wife Janie, leads the movement.^3 Each Monday the team releases a Prayer Moment; those guides also appear in Thai, Spanish, Japanese, and Burmese.^1 Partners can follow global workers, join country and church prayer spaces, take a 15-day field-story challenge, walk through a Buddhism 101 mini-course, and read short devotionals that grow a life of prayer.^1
The Mighty Networks app carries those Prayer Moments, worker updates, missionary livestreams, and a podcast with workers and believers from Buddhist backgrounds.^5 Assemblies of God World Missions names Change The Map as the intercessory prayer base for its Buddhist/Hindu priority.^3 District partners in New York, Minnesota, and Ohio are gathering churches toward a vision of 50,000 regular prayer partners.^7^8 Durene’s book Change the Map: Impacting the Buddhist World through Prayer and Action gathers stories from that work.^9
