Ever tried to talk about faith with someone whose worldview is completely different from yours — and felt like you were speaking two different languages? That's the problem Perspective Cards was built to solve.^1
Created by Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ), Perspective is a deck of 54 cards designed to open up natural, non-threatening spiritual conversations. Instead of launching into a gospel presentation, you lay out cards across five categories — the nature of God, the meaning and purpose of life, human nature, who Jesus is, and the source of spiritual truth — and invite the other person to pick the card that best represents what they believe. Then you ask why.^2
The genius is in the listening. Rather than a one-way presentation, Perspective flips the script: the other person does most of the talking. As they work through the categories, they often realize they haven't thought deeply about the biggest questions of life — and that self-discovery opens the door to share the Christian perspective in a way that feels like dialogue, not a lecture.^3
Perspective was born in Puebla, Mexico, when Cru staff member Barry Warren asked God for a new evangelism tool and received the idea for "Choose Your Own Religion" cards — which eventually became the polished deck used on college campuses worldwide today.^3 The app version faithfully reproduces the physical card experience on your phone, making it easy to carry this conversation starter everywhere — no deck required.
Used widely across Cru campus ministries, Perspective Cards have helped spark hundreds of spiritual conversations in settings from university cafeterias to international missions. "This is truly a revolutionary tool for evangelism," one user wrote. "Perspective Cards allow the game-player to do most of the talking, which normally opens him up to hear the Christian viewpoint."^4 Another shared, "It's a great resource to start conversations and to outreach/evangelism. Super easy to navigate and doesn't need data or wifi!"^4
The app also includes a follow-up feature that emails participants a summary of their responses, along with resources for continuing their spiritual journey — including a Seeker's Prayer option for those not yet ready to commit but open to exploring further.^2
Available on both iOS and Android. The physical card deck is also available from the Cru Store, along with large-format Perspective Banners for campus events and outreach.^5 Also available in Spanish.^5
