Getting the whole family to open a Bible together — consistently — might be one of the hardest habits in the Christian home. Between school, sports, screen time, and bedtime battles, the idea of a daily family devotional can feel like one more thing on an already full plate. Lectio for Families meets that tension head-on with 5-to-10-minute daily devotionals designed to fit into the rhythms families already have — at the dinner table, in the car, or just before bed.^1

Built by 24-7 Prayer — the global prayer, mission, and justice movement founded by Pete Greig in 1999 — Lectio for Families adapts the ancient practice of Lectio Divina into a simple daily pattern called P.R.A.Y.: Pause to be still, Rejoice with a memory verse and Reflect on a Bible passage, Ask God for help, and say Yes to His plans. Each day includes a short Scripture reading (New Century Version), a discussion question to spark real conversation, and simple prayer prompts. Weekly themes follow the church calendar (Advent, Lent) or explore topics like the Fruit of the Spirit, prayer in the Psalms, or books of the Bible like Mark's Gospel. On Sundays, there's a special Sabbath prayer, and occasional pauses celebrate heroes of the Christian faith.^2 Churches across the globe are weaving the resource into their family ministry — Woodlands Church in Bristol recommended it as a Lent 2026 resource, and Bay Vineyard Church in New Zealand highlights it in their family discipleship newsletter.^3

The content is written and read aloud by an international team of adults and children from across the 24-7 Prayer movement — contributors from England, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, and the United States — giving the devotional a beautifully global, intergenerational feel. Recent themes have drawn from Pete (South Africa) and Gemma Hunt's book How To Be (un)Successful, integrating the resource with 24-7 Prayer's wider publishing and podcast content. Audio is produced by Richard Dawson (Cardboard Carousel), and families can choose to listen together or read by passing the device around. Originally designed for children aged 7–11, it works well for slightly younger and older kids too.^5
