White grew up a pastor's son in a Mennonite farming town outside Dodge City, Kansas, and later felt called to acting in Los Angeles.^2 After God's Not Dead reached a wide theatrical audience, PureFlix.com went live in the summer of 2015 so those stories could live beyond limited church and DVD releases.^2 Sony Pictures later acquired the streaming service, and in 2023 it joined Great American Media under CEO Bill Abbott and took the name Great American Pure Flix.^5
