The name "Daystar" comes from 2 Peter 1:19 (KJV) — "until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts" — a reference to Jesus as the light in a dark world.^2
Co-founder Joni Lamb, who led the network as president following Marcus Lamb's passing in 2021, went home to be with the Lord on May 7, 2026, at the age of 65. The network's board confirmed that a succession plan is in place and that the ministry will continue broadcasting the Gospel to every nation.^5
