How do you know if you're actually growing as a follower of Jesus — or just going through the motions? The Spiritual Health Reflection is a free self-assessment tool from Practicing the Way that helps you honestly examine your inner life with God and identify practical next steps in your apprenticeship to Jesus.^1
Built around the three aims of discipleship — being with Jesus, becoming like him, and doing as he did — the reflection walks you through thoughtful questions about your spiritual practices, relationships, and rhythms. After completing it, you can explore your results with filters and scatter plots, choose a focus area where you sense the Spirit inviting growth, and track your trajectory over time by retaking it every few months.^1 The tool is designed for communal use — share your next steps with a trusted friend or small group and process together.^1
The Spiritual Health Reflection was created by Practicing the Way, a nonprofit founded by pastor and author John Mark Comer. After nearly two decades leading Bridgetown Church in Portland, Oregon, Comer stepped away in 2021 to build free spiritual formation resources for churches worldwide. He is now church planting in the Santa Monica mountains just outside Los Angeles.^2 Practicing the Way now serves over 23,600 church communities across 167 countries with courses, practice guides, podcasts, and digital tools — all funded by generous donors through "The Circle" of 3,300+ monthly givers.^3 Comer's book Practicing the Way was awarded the ECPA Christian Book of the Year in 2025.^4
