Created by John Dyer, a professor at Dallas Theological Seminary and VP for Enrollment and Educational Technology, YALL is a Bible translation over a decade in the making. It uses "y'all" wherever the Hebrew or Greek text addresses a group rather than an individual, and renders God's covenant name as YHWH instead of the traditional "the LORD." The result is a translation that recovers the communal heart of Scripture — reminding readers that God's promises, commands, and presence are for His people together, not just for isolated individuals.^2
Based on the American Standard Version with updates from the World English Bible, YALL leans word-for-word while staying readable. Beyond the signature "y'all," it features small-cap divine pronouns (ʜᴇ, ʜɪᴍ, ʜɪꜱ), literal Hebrew idioms rendered into English, and thoughtful vocabulary choices like "siblings" for adelphoi and "ethnic group" for ethnos.
