Holy is a Christian dating and friendship app for Christians who want Jesus at the center of meeting someone, not added as a filter. It serves single adults, and members who join for friendship first, across denominations who confess Jesus as Lord and the Nicene Creed.^1
Each day Holy introduces members to Christians near them. Profiles are built around faith: members read why people say Jesus matters to them, and share their testimony and favorite Bible verses.^2 There is no swiping, a choice the makers tie to every person being made in the image of God. You wave at someone, and if they wave back, Holy connects you to chat. Members choose Dating, Friends, or both, and profiles can note marital status and an exact denomination.^1 The pace is slower, with intentional breaks and Scripture reminders, and every profile is manually reviewed and selfie-verified before anyone joins.^1
Married couple Kathleen and Jonathan Tamboer first met at a Bible study in New York City and have been married for over a decade. Kathleen brought a decade-long design career; Jonathan has been writing code since the mid-1990s.^1 Their friend Karen looks after support and reviews new profiles, and Judith, a marriage and family psychologist and Jonathan's mother, helps with prayer support and application review.^1 The app is independent, with no outside funding, no ads, and no selling of data; its design draws on Dietrich Bonhoeffer's Life Together and the calls to unity in Ephesians 4 and John 17.^2 Holy is free to use, sustained by the optional Supporter plan, which unlocks extra features.^2
