Struggling to make Bible memorization stick? Wrinkly turns Scripture memory into something you actually look forward to — using games, quizzes, and spaced repetition to help you move from reading to real recall.^1
Instead of rote repetition, Wrinkly walks you through escalating levels of engagement with each passage: first reading, then filling in blanks, then games that test what you've retained. The "wrinkle" system tracks your progress, spacing out reviews so verses move from short-term cramming into long-term memory. It supports dozens of Bible translations — including ESV, NIV, NLT, KJV, CSB, NASB, AMP, CEV, WEB, and several Spanish, Portuguese, and Serbian versions — and syncs your progress across iOS, Android, and the web.^2
Built by Ryan O'Dowd and the team at Oakwood Software Consulting — a Christ-centered organization built on biblical principles — Wrinkly was born in 2022 when Ryan and a friend challenged each other to memorize Scripture and realized existing tools weren't engaging enough to sustain the habit. As Ryan shared: "I'm grateful for the gifts God has blessed me with, including the passions for Scripture, software development, creating, learning, and entrepreneurship. It is very cool to see all of those passions converge in a single calling."^4
Wrinkly has grown beyond personal memorization into schools and fundraising, with features that let teachers create and assign goals for students.^1 A Bible-in-a-year reading plan, offline Bible access, passage sharing with friends, streak reminders, and favorite translations for quick version-switching round out an app that keeps getting better.^2
Why Christians Love Wrinkly: "This is a must-have app for those looking to memorize scripture! The games and quizzes are very fun and it's an effective and engaging way to commit God's word to memory. I feel like I already know so many more verses and I've only needed ~5 mins each day over a couple months!"^2 A youth pastor wrote: "As a youth pastor, I can't wait to share this app with my students! It is already encouraging me to be in the Word of God more!"^2 On Android, one user shared: "After downloading it and playing with it, I recommended it to my husband and a bunch of friends. I'm going to tell more people about it at church."^3 Another called it "time well spent" for everything from personal goals to children's church, Bible studies, and family devotions.^2
Community impact keeps growing — users have collectively spent over 13,700 hours reviewing more than 2.5 million verses.^1
