Ever wish you could use your accounting skills, web design chops, or counseling experience for the Great Commission — without quitting your day job? That's the heart behind Switchboard.^1
Launched publicly in 2023 after a 2021 pilot, Switchboard (operating as Global Switchboard) is a nonprofit digital missions platform from Tentmakers Network, Inc. that matches skilled believers ("Kingdom Consultants") with Gospel workers and Great Commission organizations who need their expertise.^2 Think of it as a matchmaking service for the Kingdom: a bookkeeper helps a missionary in Burundi get their finances straight, a cybersecurity expert advises a ministry in a sensitive region, a graphic designer creates branding for an anti-trafficking organization.^1
The platform now organizes itself around three roles — Everyday Believer, Gospel Worker, and Missions Leader — and a free Skill Assessment helps new users surface their gifts and get matched to real opportunities.^3 Volunteers can offer one-time 60-minute consultations or ongoing virtual roles: no travel, no fundraising, just God-given skills put to work.
In June 2026, Switchboard introduced Prayer Circles — relational support networks that let a Gospel worker build a veiled, richly described profile and invite supporters into real-time prayer, updates, and skill-based help, replacing the quarterly-newsletter model with ongoing community.^4 The earlier Ministry Expansion Kit (a Christar/Pioneers collaboration funded by a Missio Nexus Innovation Grant) and its companion Virtual Missions Kit continue to equip cross-cultural workers and churches for virtual volunteering.^5
Switchboard partners with Pioneers, Christar, Cru, Frontiers, Missio Nexus, Lausanne, Mission Increase, the Colson Center, Indigitous, Austin Ridge, Trust Bridge Global, and more.^2
"Switchboard was super simple to use. Within a week of signing in, I was on a call... The connection was perfect, and they answered all my questions." — Carl, cross-cultural worker in the Middle East^7
With 8,000+ believers across 100+ countries and more than 2,300 ministry connections made, Switchboard is free for individual volunteers and Great Commission organizations, sustained by donor support and optional church/organization subscriptions.^2
As founder Scott Elequin puts it: "I keep meeting people who don't think their skill can be used in the Great Commission... and then I get a call two days later and there's somebody that needs that exact thing. How cool is God?"^8
