Most Bible study resources assume literacy, internet access, and a Western church context — but the majority world often has none of these. The Discover App was built to close that gap, putting the power of Discovery Bible Study (DBS) on your phone in forty-four languages with both text and audio, downloadable for fully offline use.^1
At its core, the app guides small groups through thirty studies from Creation to Christ using four simple, memorable questions that anyone can facilitate — no theological training required. Participants read or listen to a passage, retell it in their own words, discuss what it reveals about God and about themselves, commit to obeying what they've learned, and decide who they'll share it with. Seven story sets are available beyond the foundational Creation to Christ series, including Becoming Disciples, Stories of Hope, and a 23-study journey through how Jesus trained his disciples.^2 The studies are also accessible via a web app at studies.discoverapp.org and as downloadable PDFs.^1
Developed by Ian Coleman through Gravid Apps and backed by The Discover Network — a UK registered charity (No. 1193870) — the app has been used to make disciples in over 200 nations over the past ten years. The Discover Network also offers DMM training and mentoring for those committed to launching disciple-making movements in their communities.^3 A standalone Spanish version (Descubrir) and offline Light Bibles in English and Chichewa are also available.^1
Why Christians Love Discover: "For the past 4 years we have been traveling around the US. Every place we stop we make an effort to build community and share Christ with the people we meet. The Discover App has made the process so much easier. If people want a church, they will find a church, but for every one else this is a great and simple way to introduce them to the Scriptures and disciple them to know Jesus."^4 Another user shared: "Fantastic App. I find it easier to learn this way. And going through each study in a group is so interesting hearing others peoples views when answering the questions."^4 Field workers report: "We have seen more progress in terms of genuine discipleship in a few weeks running discovery studies, than we have in years of church services and sermons."^5 Dare to Multiply, a missions organization, calls it "one of our favorite DMM tools" and featured it in their podcast.^6
